Scandinavian Architecture "Gardiner Terrace" Reflects Sun Angle

This is a Swedish Scandinavian design house in UK named "Solen Vinklar", meaning sun angle. Brilliant architecture firm David Blaikie Architects being hired to fulfill owner's strong affinity of Scandinavian in order to blend in the design.

House storey board largely leaned on modern Scandinavian design where a direction that felt natural to them.

Huge interior volumes necessitated dynamic modelling in order to fulfil planning overshadowing standards. Designed reflex angles help addressing vistas and crucial sun angles.

The extension's shape was designed to collect sunlight early in the morning, throughout the day, and eventually to reflect the last of the evening sun down into the living room off the huge sloping ceiling plane.

The extension and usage of the attic space more than doubles the house's floor area.

This 68 semi-detached single-story home is representative of suburban housing stock in this and many other districts of Edinburgh. This house has the advantage of a 50m long back yard, which may be used to create a dramatic extension that will give a light-filled place for a young family to grow up in.

Creating a new room combination of kitchen, dining room and living room.

The slate roof and timber-clad north wall protect the household from the weather and neighboring houses. The width of glass lets in light and provides views across the wide garden to the forested slopes of Corstorphine Hill.
