2DM Arquitectos finished a small and angular cabin design on a remote location in Puertecillo, Chile. The two-story Cabin, known as 'Casa Prebarco,' was built for a young couple whose sole demand was to have a view of the sea.
The ultimate shape of Casa Prebarco was inspired by the couple's desire for a sea view. 2DM Arquitectos drastically elevated the home at the front into a point, allowing high views from the second floor and conjuring the idea of a ship's bow.
The cabin which was built in a forested region about 10 kilometers from the Puertecillo surf beach, has an angular shape that was meant to provide the owners with sea views.
The cabin, commissioned with the only requirement of having a view of the sea, provided a formal challenge that included the construction of a compact volume while being tensed by this perspective, reaching the depth of the landscape in a single look.
The design, as a single hanging volume, points dramatically to the sea, much like a ship.
The first floor public program enables you to walk side by side to the surrounding environment with a more controlled aspect, whilst the second floor, from the master bedroom, allows the view to reach as far away as possible to get the desired Pacific Ocean.
